A startling revelation has emerged on the secret deal between Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio and the Gubernatorial flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere for the 2019 election.

Unknown to supporters of Obong Nsima Ekere from Uyo Senatorial District, power will not be conceded to them in 2023, since Nsima is to run for eight years if he succeeds and thereafter handover to an anointed candidate of Senator Akpabio in 2027.

And under the plan, Akpabio is considering a candidate from Ukana, his birth place.

A hint to the secret pact was given by the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East at the National Assembly, Senator Bassey Albert.

According to Senator Albert, the alleged plot by the top hierarchy of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State is to use the 2019 gubernatorial election to execute ethnic plans against the major ethnic group in the State, the Ibibios.

Speaking at the Peoples Democratic Party Solidarity Rally/ Reception of Defectors in Nsit Atai Local Government Area on Monday, the Senator said he had gathered from credible sources that the former governor of the State, Senator Godswill Akpabio in connivance with the All Progressives Congress Gubernatorial flag bearer among other top chieftains of the APC had designed plans for Nsima Ekere to serve for eight years in office if he emerges governor in 2019.

Obong Albert said that the scheme makes provision for Nsima Ekere after serving for eight years to hand over power to someone from Annang ethnic group, preferably from Ukana Ikot Ntuen.

He explained that the card the plotters are planning to sell is that the rotation designed for all Senatorial districts to have a shot at the Hilltop Mansion had been completed when Eket Senatorial District served, hence the next rotation can start from any Senatorial district without necessarily starting from Uyo Senatorial district.

He said “Nsima, Akpabio, and his cohorts had a meeting last week in Abuja. They agreed that Nsima will go for eight years, but he should not tell Ibibios. Nsima agreed that he will handover to an Annang-man as his successor.”

The Uyo Senatorial District lawmaker revealed that part of the plan is to use persecutions to make sure that when the plot is ripe, no Ibibio son or daughter in the State would have up to N10 million to enable them have the financial muscle to stand election.
